Access the web journal admin by clicking on the logo (upper right of each journal page). The "Overide Front Page Article" does just what it says, when you publish (or overwrite) an article it is automatically placed as the front page article. This can be overridden by simply inputting the desired article number (i.e. you create article 1007, but want article 1001 to lead off, or you edit article 1019, but want more current article on front. Do your article creation/overwrite then go back to admin and input your desired opening page article's number in the Override box). Selecting the "Overwrite Exisiting Article Number" option does just that, including the XML feed, and the "short" link and subtext. Remember this option will OVERWRITE the existing article. The Edit Article Include will let you tweak the HTML for a chosen article, WITHOUT placing it on front page (or changing the existing Headline/subtext copy (overwrite the article to replace them). Use this to add an image to a preexisting article, or for simple typo correction. Edit Comment Include lets you edit comments on the chosen article page (if someone spams us or posts an egregiously nasty comment) This function could be password protected to keep the univited public from editing other people comments, but the Comment function itself will always be freely accessed via each article' comment button. The Commenting aspect of this adds many new elements to the utility of our communications. Certain pages of our site could become forums, for instance. Images will need you to resize them (if wider than 600 px) and save at 72 or 96 dpi. Use back button after copying the HTML tag that is generated, paste tag into desired article (via either new article or edit article). Music!!!! Pretty much same as image upload, do NOT include the .mp3 extension, just a ONE word filename, LINK TEXT may be any text you want. For best results, process your mp3 to 24k mono, for both small file size and to facilitate streaming on dialup connections (dialup has difficulty with CD quality mp3s). SUPER SECRET ADVANCED TRICK!!! The content for Blog Log is managed by comment editor (enter the word: Left) The content for Fellow Travellers is managed by comment editor (enter the word:Right) I have implemented a filter that allows you to use an ampersand (&) in your headline without breaking the RSS feed (XML is a bit fussy). In addition, several specific four (and one nine) letter words are censored automatically in comments. |
