Hometown girl returns in triumph

Lenox, Mass. native Kristen Gray leads her band, SoulRaye, at Club Helsinki on Sunday, May 17
Capping a weekend of bustling activity in downtown Great Barrington, Mass., centered around the Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), singer/actress Kristen Gray, a Lenox native, will lead her band, SoulRaye, in concert at Club Helsinki on Sunday night at 7:30pm.
SoulRaye is based in San Diego and Kristen and Michael Raye’s resume reads like a who’s who in the music business: Dave Stewart, Bootsy Collins, Mick Jagger, George Clinton, Daryl Hall, Michael Bolton, Gloria Gaynor, Deniece Williams, Tommy Shaw, Candy Dulfer, Bernie Worrell, Lou Reed and Richie Havens are just some of the many artists with whom they have recorded, performed or have toured with on the road.
SoulRaye’s genre of music is neo-pop-soul. They are currently in the studio recording with two incredibly talented musicians; bassist Scott Eisman & drummer Andre Sias on a new CD “SoulKiss” to be released on their own label.
Kristen recently performed onstage with former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart and rap/hip-hop sensation Nadirah X in a new music video and 40th anniversary anthem for GreenPeace entitled “Go Green.”
