The Dollyrots to Perform at Rock On! Indie Band Camp Workshop

7.7.08 THE DOLLYROTS (photo by Diana Price)

The Dollyrots will be making their third live concert appearance in the Berkshires on July 31st at the Boland Theater at Berkshire Community College’s West Street campus in Pittsfield. The concert will be the highlight of Rock On! Indie Band Camp’s summer workshop as well as a fundraiser for the Berkshires’ only rock station, WTBR 89.7 FM.

Since the release of their second album, Because I’m Awesome, The Dollyrots have been making their home on the road. Their current set of dates includes two legs of the summer institution known as the Warped Tour and will be taking the band through the mid-west and east coast. The Dollyrots’ music has been featured in the ABC Family program Greek as well as in a major advertising campaign for Kohl’s department stores. The band recently released the single “Brand New Key”, a cover of Melanie’s 1970’s hit.

Opening the concert will be local acts who are also workshop alumni, Art Decade and Reason 837. Art Decade recently issued the Innocence/Experience EP featuring the title track, which the band also produced a video for. Art Decade had the honor of appearing on the second stage during the Dave Matthews Band’s two-date stint at the Comcast Center (Great Woods) in Mansfield, MA. Reason 837 will be sharing the stage with The Dollyrots again and will be supporting their locally recorded self-titled full-length CD featuring the tracks Stars and Radio.

The concert is open to the public and tickets will be available on July 9th in Pittsfield at BCC’s West Street campus, Corinne’s Place and Wood Brothers, in Dalton at Dalton Mobil, the Shamrock Restaurant and by calling Rock On at 499-1733. A portion of the $10.00 admission will benefit WTBR 89.7 FM, Berkshire County’s only rock station.
