BTF hosts Opening Night Birthday Party in honor of 80th anniversary season

Stockbridge, Mass. – On Saturday, June 21, Berkshire Theatre Festival will celebrate the opening of its 80th anniversary season with a special evening of events and the opening night performance of George Bernard Shaw’s Candida on BTF’s Main Stage.

The events of the evening include Friends and Artists Dinners hosted at private homes and area restaurants beginning at 5:30pm and a Cocktail Celebration with hors d’oeuvres under the Main Stage tent beginning at 6pm. 80th Anniversary Festivities include a historical tribute and champagne toast that will take place in the Main Stage at 7:45pm, followed by the opening night performance of Candida at 8pm. After the performance the audience is invited to join the cast and company under the tent for specialty cakes and native strawberries.

During intermission of the performance, BTF will auction a “Best of the Berkshires” package, featuring Representative Smitty Pignatelli as the auctioneer. The package includes: two tickets to Tanglewood for the Boston Pops performing A Little Night Music on July 8 and Barbara Cook on July 14: two tickets to the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center for Los Lobos on July 12; a kayak rental for two from Arcadian Shop; two tickets to Jacob’s Pillow for Bill T.
