Latino life to be focus of forum on Sunday, November 18

11.7.07
(Great Barrington, Mass., November 7, 2007) - Representatives of the burgeoning Latino community will be on hand for "Livin’ La Vida Latina," a discussion about the triumphs and challenges faced by Latino immigrants to the Berkshires, on Sunday, November 18, at 11 a.m., at the Triplex Cinema in Great Barrington, as part of Berkshire Living’s award-winning "Rest of the Story" free public forum series.

The face of the Berkshires is ever-changing, and today nowhere more so due to the influx of immigrants from Latin America. They are found in all walks of life, from the boardrooms of the region’s top banks to the restaurant kitchens dotting our landscape, as recounted in "Livin’ La Vida Latina," a feature article written by Meghan St. John and photographed by Jason Houston in the November-December issue of Berkshire Living.

Discussing their unique experiences as Latino immigrants at the event will be Albaro Francisco, chef/owner of Taqueria Azteca; Jesus Jimenez, financial senior representative at the Berkshire Bank Foundation; Ruby Maldonado, host of the Spanish-language "Voice of Hope" program on WBCR-LP; and Octavio Hernandez, public benefits specialist at Community Health Programs. Berkshire Living editor-in-chief Seth Rogovoy will moderate the event with writer Meghan St. John.

Each month, Berkshire Living, an award-winning regional lifestyle and culture magazine, and the Triplex join forces to present free public forums based on an article running in the concurrent issue of the magazine. For more information, call Berkshire Living at 413.528.3600.
