Berkshire Living Team Launches Business Magazine
(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass., October 16, 2007) – BBQ: Berkshire Business Quarterly, a new business lifestyle magazine produced by the award-winning team behind Berkshire Living, debuts today.
BBQ focuses on the Berkshire economy with the service-oriented writing, photography and design that Berkshire Living readers have come to expect.
With an extensive background in business publishing, founder and publisher Michael Zivyak saw a need for a business publication in the Berkshires that is "smart, fun, informative and insightful."
"The Berkshire region, with its growing creative economy, is a great place for a high-quality business magazine," said Zivyak. "We are very excited about this new venture, and we think readers and advertisers will embrace it as well."
"I believe that every curious reader will enjoy BBQ, with its emphasis on the personalities that drive the local economy, ranging from gallery owner Leslie Ferrin to Berkshire Bank CEO Mike Daly. These are success stories, Berkshire-style," said BBQ editor-in-chief Seth Rogovoy, "and our intention, with BBQ, is to share that philosophy of success with readers."
BBQ will cover all segments of the Berkshire economy - from manufacturing, retail, publishing, health care and hospitality to real estate, the arts, design and high-tech ventures. The first issue offers profiles of local entrepreneurs and CEOs, guest columnists including Gov. Deval Patrick, and stories on culture, education, real estate and technology. Each issue includes "What’s Cooking," a selected roundup of business news; "At the Bar," a legal column; and BBQ&A, an interview with a notable local business person.
BBQ will be mailed four times a year - first, second, third and fourth quarters - free to high-level business leaders, owners and chief executive officers in the Berkshires. Its distribution also includes a list of 600 national site selecting companies, 600 of the best prospects of the Berkshire Economic Development Corp., every member of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, every member of the state Legislature and the Inc. Magazine's 500 chief financial officers. It also will be available for purchase on local newsstands, as well as by mail subscription.
The BBQ staff includes award-winning creative director Adam Michael Rothberg and managing editor Lesley Ann Beck.
