COUNTRY CURTAINS Birthday party

8.28.06
Country Curtains® to be feted at forum

(Great Barrington, Mass., August 18 2006) -- On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, Country Curtains, the Stockbridge, Mass.-based provider of ready-made window treatments, will be feted at “Curtain Crazy” on Sunday, September 17, at 11 a.m., at the Triplex Cinema in Great Barrington. The event is part of “The Rest of the Story” series, the free public forum co-presented by Berkshire Living magazine and the Triplex Cinema.

The event will be moderated by Berkshire Living editor-in-chief Seth Rogovoy with Berkshire Living Home+Garden editor Gladys Montgomery, who profiles the company in the September special home design issue of Berkshire Living. Rogovoy and Montgomery will present Nancy Fitzpatrick of the Red Lion Inn, who serves as co-director of the board for the Fitzpatrick Companies with her sister, Ann Brown of Blantyre.

Other top executives from Country Curtains will be on hand in a freewheeling discussion of the company’s story of growth from the dining-room table operation of Nancy and Ann’s parents, Jane and Jack Fitzpatrick, to the internationally renowned home décor outlet with 24 retail stores, a mail-order catalog and website. Today, the company is a fixture in the Berkshires, one of the region’s largest employers and greatest success stories, and a major civic presence in the community.

The event will include a slide show, video, a home décor demonstration, other treats and surprises, as well as a question-and-answer session.

Each month, the Triplex and Berkshire Living, an award-winning regional lifestyle and culture magazine, join forces to present free public forums based on an article running in the concurrent issue of the magazine. For more information, call Berkshire Living at 413.528.3600.

Founded in 1956 by Jane and Jack Fitzpatrick, Country Curtains is a private family and employee owned company, celebrating its golden anniversary this year. The company is known for its tasteful window treatment designs, quality fabrics and workmanship, ready-made affordability and extraordinary customer service. Country Curtains makes much of what it sells at their Housatonic Curtain Company factories and markets its products through its national catalog, its 24 retail shops from South Burlington, Vt., to Richmond, Va., and from Boston to Chicago, and its Web site, www.countrycurtains.com. The company is headquartered in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
