Bob Dylan rehearses new album at The Bardavon

Bob Dylan Plays the Bardavon
In a closed rehearsal for a new CD
(Poughkeepsie, NY) In a real coup for the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, Bob Dylan spent four days last week (Jan. 31-Feb 3) rehearsing with his band prior to entering the studio in New York City to begin recording his next CD.
For New York State's oldest theatre which claims "legendary performances since 1869" and where Mark Twain, Houdini, Sarah Bernhardt, John Philip Sousa, George M. Cohan Teddy Roosevelt, Ethel and John Barrymore, Buffalo Bill Cody, Frank Sinatra and as recently as 2003 Al Pacino tried out his Broadway production of Salome, you would think booking big stars would be easy. But Bardavon Executive Director Chris Silva has been trying for 12 years to get Bob Dylan to play the Bardavon, and it wasn't until he got a mysterious email from Dylan's booking agent Creative Artists Agency (CAA), looking for "rehearsal space for one of our artists" did Dylan and the Bardavon finally come together. Having received such cryptic emails before, Silva immediately suspected it was for Bob Dylan. After a series of phone calls and emails the dates were booked.
Dylan brought with him a first class line up of musicians including Tony Garnier (Bass), George Receli (Drums), Don Herron (Steel Guitar, Fiddle), Stu Kimball (guitar) and Denny Freeman (Guitar). Silva, who was allowed to watch the famously reclusive artist in rehearsal from the wings, reported that, "he was all business working 4-5 hour stretches without a break". But Dylan did personally thank Silva at the end of the week, complimented him on the Bardavon and said he'd be back. But just to make sure Silva discussed a return to play for a paying audience with Dylan's manager who was in attendance, who promised, "Bob will be back!"

Good to finally have word on a new record... and hope Dylan continues the winning streak of the last two, which were two of his best yet...
