Abu Mazen or Mahmud Abbas?

9.4.05
For several years now, the head of the Palestinian Authority and nominal head of the incipient state of Palestine has been referred to in all major news media as "Mahmud Abbas, better known as Abu Mazen."

How long are we going to keep having to refer to him thusly? At this point, he's best known as a man with two names. So how about deciding on which one he wants to be known as, and let that just be the one? And if he's better known as Abu Mazen, why don't we just call him that?

He rather be called a different name, so we should respect his wishes.

True

Palestinians didnt have to bother with "Aubrey Solomon commonly known as Abba Eban" or "Uri Cohen commonly known as Yitzak Shamir"
