“Die Trying” (Crosscheck)
Lead singer Carrie Nance has a high, almost chirpy voice, which makes for a fascinating variation on the typical, testosterone-fueled aggressive screaming one typically finds in front of a hardcore punk-metal band. The central Illinois-based quintet boasts all the typical ingredients of the genre -- bone-crunching guitars, pummeling drums, thudding bass, and some of the guys harmonize with Nance – and the songs vent anger and rage against injustice and depression. Imagine Cyndi Lauper screaming her guts out. [ 4/4/04 ]
