GOLEM returns to Club Helsinki on Friday night with great new batch of songs, new CD

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) -- Yiddish/klezmer outfit GOLEM returns to Club Helsinki on Friday, Feb. 27, at 8pm, with a terrific new batch of songs from its brand-new album, Citizen Boris -- the group's best recording so far.
CITIZEN BORIS marks a new watershed in GOLEM's artistic life, as it's the first recording by the group to consist primarily of original songs written by leader Annette Ezekiel -- the group's lead singer and accordionist -- many of which boast English lyrics, peppered with Yiddish words and others from the seven-language vocabulary Ezekiel boasts.
The CD is also the best sounding one yet, showcasing Ezekiel's vocals at their most resonant, as well as co-vocalist Aaron Diskin's singing at its most colorful.
