[NEWS ALERT] Great Barrington high school evacuated once again

(MONDAY, November 3, 2008, Noon) -- Great Barrington police confirm that Monument Mountain Regional High School has once again been evacuated owing to a bomb threat.
To paraphrase the officer, the students and staff are all together at a safe distance from the school, while the building is being searched.
No further information is available regarding the nature of the threat, why the school is taking these threats seriously, plans for returning to the building, or how the school plans to continue to function under the supposed constant threat of bombing.
An e-mail sent to principal Maeve Hitzenbuhler late last week asking her to address these questions remains unanswered and unacknowledged.

I am currently a member of the sophmore class and this is getting ridiculous, most don't really like school but it's time to get back. I have heard very little info about this recent threat after 30 minutes standing in the cold and an hour mushed in the elementary school building we where released. problem is, many people still had books, laptops, keys and more left in the school. some teachers even have to ride the bus home. NO ONE was allowed in the school. e have received no information about classes tomorrow but my books are still in class along with my backpack and personal belongings. New cameras have been installed and should lead us to answers. this is getting old

Sorry, left some info out. Apparently based only on reliable rumor sources, this threat originated in the girls bathroom this time, versus the other two which where written in the boys bathroom. hopefully this person or these people will be caught and at least expelled, i would really like things to get back to normal and finish the year. each day we miss will be made up at the end of the year which will only further ruin summer time and summer vacation

I am a junior and I just have one question to whoever is doing this. Is spending 30 years in fed. prison really worth having a few days off from school? I mean seriously. We'll get those few days when we have snow days. I also think that it was ridiculous that they did it RIGHT after we had an assembly about coming together as a community and the reputation Monument is starting to acquire. Not only is this person hurting themselves, but the school, teachers, and community as a whole
