LOCAL RADIO STATION FUNDRAISES FOR DIVERSITY

10.14.08
(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.)— WBCR-LP, 97.7 FM, Great Barrington's community radio station, will be holding its semiannual on-air Fund Drive from Saturday, October 11 through Friday, October 17. In July, WBCR moved to Rossetter Street, Great Barrington into a spacious studio to accommodate our communities need. This is a community based center for our Southern Berkshire communities and surrounding areas at large. The key components of the stations effort is to maintain its current structure, finishing work on the studio, operating costs and continuing to create more options for use of this space. The goal of this fund drive is to raise a minimum of $20,000. All donations are accepted continuously seven days a week, 24 hours a day through www.berkshireradio.org and by phoning the station directly at (413) 644- 9797.

Each year, WBCR has volunteers working tirelessly to keep the station flowing seamless day after day. WBCR-LP is community operated and supported with no advertisers or underwriters of any kind. Programs are created, produced and played on the airwaves by over 100 adults and children. All programmers are taught how to produce a quality radio program, nonetheless becoming more involved with the station. Broadcasting locally on 97.7 FM and streaming worldwide on the Internet at www.berkshireradio.org. WBCR has shows featuring jazz, indie rock, hip-hop, classical reggae, folk, gospel, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Americana and childrens' music.

Volunteers are needed for this fund drive and can be used throughout the year as well. Please call the station for details on programming, volunteering, or membership by calling 413.644.9797.
