Does Bush have plans to stay on past January 09?

9.1.08
Reports in the last few days hint that President Bush may not be as willing to leave his Pennsylvania Avenue home as two million residents of New Orleans were yesterday. Will it take a Category Three hurricane to kick Bush out of the White House come January 20, 2009?

First, Bush is pushing a resolution through Congress stating (or restating) that the U.S. is at war with Al Qaeda. Under such conditions, could Bush claim super-constitutional powers to remain on as president as war is being waged, or to cancel or nullify the results of the November election? Remember that soon after 9/11 Bush, aided by henchman Dick Cheney, pushed through a number of executive orders and such granting the president extraordinary powers in "time of war."

Secondly, we read today in various newspapers that already the FBI in cooperation with local police and anti-terrorist squads are arresting left-wing journalists and antiwar protesters, including two 70-year-old women, in Minneapolis, as the Republicans limp toward there hurricane-marred convention, giving them a convenient excuse to remain above the fray (talk is of John McCain pulling a Chris Anderson and giving his acceptance speech via satellite from rain-soaked New Orleans, and Bush and Cheney appearing too busy with disaster relief to be concerned with the nitty-gritty of partisan politics).

What plot is being hatched in the proto-fascist bunker that has become the White House?

We should all be on heightened alert, and channel our fear of an unconstitutional takeover of the reigns of government into proactive efforts to insure that this doesn't take place. Because it easily could.
