The Blue Method at Club Helsinki

The Blue Method at Club Helsinki

LIVE AT CLUB HELSINKI
Saturday, July 12th - 9:00 PM
Tickets $15

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass., June 12th, 2008) The Blue Method, who operate independently of label affiliation, grew and continue to grow because of their boundless energy and enthusiasm for what they do. Founding members Michael Patriarca and Tom Long have weathered tragedy and line-up changes, forming and reforming a group of compelling performers who constantly up the ante of a given record or show. The Blue Method, who recently released their latest album, Kill the Music, Vol. 2, will appear at Club Helsinki on Saturday, July 12th at 9:00 pm.

After the death of their good friend and lead singer, Patriarca and Long set out to configure a new group, The Blue Method. They were introduced to larger-than-life belter Brian Williams, who got things off to a promising start. Williams's singing and lyrics refer back to classic soul men, who sang message-driven lyrics with conviction. After finding a rhythm section, they began writing material and playing shows around their hometown of Philadelphia.

More line-up changes ensued, however, when the rhythm section up and left midway through the recording of The Blue Method's first album, Kill the Music, Vol. 1. Having already put in an extraordinary amount to sweat to the project, the three remaining members decided to soldier on, and added drummer Theron Shelton, who immediately gave new life to the group.

The album was completed, and the band spent the next two years touring the east coast and the Midwest, building a loyal fanbase along the way. The Blue Method has shared the stage with Soulive, Chick Corea, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, John Legend, Little Feat, and Ween. Kill the Music, Vol. 1 sold over 7000 copies without label affiliation. In 2005, the band was named "Best New Act" by the Home Grown Music Network, and won the annual Relix Magazine Jam-off award. Their tune "Don't They" still holds its spot as #1 funk song at Garageband.com. The band plays 150 shows a year on average, and, after adding bassist Rah Sungee to the group, the sound is more hard-hitting than ever.

Tickets are $15 and are available in advance at Club Helsinki or Helsinki Café (284 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA), by calling (413) 528 3394, or online at www.clubhelsinkiweb.com.
