[PRESS RELEASE] Pinchas Zukerman daughter Natalia to headline at Club Helsinki

Pinchas Zukerman progeny to perform at Club Helsinki
Daughter Natalia Zukerman combines perfect-pitch, guitar stylings, on jazzy Americana
LIVE AT CLUB HELSINKI
Sunday, May 18th - 8:00PM
Tickets $10
(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass., May 6th, 2008) Natalia Zukerman, whose Americana tendencies, coupled with a contemporary arrangements and instrumentation, create a compelling new brand of traditional music, will be bringing her instrumental prowess and performing experience to Club Helsinki on Sunday, May 18th at 9:00 pm.
Zuckerman grew up in a musical family; her father is violinist / conductor Pinchas Zukerman and her mother is flutist / writer Eugenia Zukerman. Natalia was raised with perfect pitch in New York City, where she was surrounded by music from an early age. Her virtuosity on the guitar came naturally, and the obvious next step was to take it on the road.
Live performance is a family tradition for the Zukermans, and Natalia lives what she refers to as the life of a "wandering gypsy" with a steadfast work ethic. Her "Song for Ramblin' Jack" came out of her understanding of this tradition; "I realized.. that I was a part of this grand tradition of troubadours that was, for me, as much about my own family of traveling musicians as a shared American history. I consider myself a student of traditional music, even though some would say the noise I make is not so traditional".
Zukerman has played with Helsinki favorite Willy Porter, who produced her latest album "Brand New Frame" (on which "Ramblin' Jack" appears), and will appear at Club Helsinki with The Jason Spooner Trio, a Northern New England band whose blend of folk, blues, and roots music should be the perfect accompaniment for Zukerman's road-tested tunes.
Tickets are $10 and are available in advance at Club Helsinki or Helsinki Café (284 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA), by calling (413) 528 3394, or online at www.clubhelsinkiweb.com.
