[MEDIA WATCH] Palestinians massacre Palestinians, and no one cares

2.4.07
You could have easily missed Friday's New York Times story -- buried inside on page 3 -- about "some of the worst internal Palestinian fighting to date," in which 17 people were killed, including a 7-year-old boy, bringing the total number of Palestinian deaths at the hands of Palestinians in the last two days to 23. In addition, close to 200, many of them civilians, have been wounded, as Hamas and Fatah wage a civil war through the towns, cities, and universities of Gaza.

Imagine an Israeli incursion into Gaza resulted in the death of a 7-year-old boy. Imagine the outrage expressed by world leaders; the official condemnations by the United Nations; the op-ed columns by bleeding hearts; the accusations of Israeli apartheid by so-called peaceniks; and the splashing of full-color, front-page photos of the bloody dead and wounded.

Of course, NONE of this happened this past week. Hardly anyone could be expected to be aware of this war, of these killings. Because no one is really interested in the fate of the Palestinians. This is obvious proof. People are only interested in the fate of the Palestinians insofar as they can use it as a wedge against Israel. In this case, Israel had nothing to do with the killings or woundings, so it wasn't news.

A dead Palestinian is only news if it's at the hand of an Israeli soldier.

Therefore, we can conclude that:

1. Sympathy for the Palestinians is disingenuous.
2. Expressions of outrage against Israeli defensive moves against Palestinians resulting in shed blood are NOT motivated by sympathy for Palestinians, but rather by visceral hatred of Israel, most likely based on anti-Semitism.

For those who actually CARE about the Palestinians and the fact that they are murdering each other, read "17 Die as Fatah-Hamas Warfare Spreads Throughout Gaza."
