Don't Fly Continental Airlines!

On Dec. 23 I flew to London on Continental from Albany through Newark.
On Jan. 1 I returned from London to Albany via Newark.
On BOTH legs of my trips, I arrived at my destination but my checked baggage did not.
It took nearly two days for my suitcase to be delivered to me in England. I'm still waiting for my suitcase to be delivered to me now that I'm back.
When I spoke with a customer service representative at Continental this morning, she refused to apologize and very matter-of-factly stated that there is no implied guarantee that checked baggage will arrive with the passenger, but rather, that it will arrive on "the first available flight," which may not be the same flight as yours.
Traveler beware!
I was going to say that I will never, ever fly Continental, but since my baggage is inevitably 2 pairs of shorts, reversible socks, three tee shirts and a shaving kit, I never have to check anything. So I got nothing to worry about, right?
