WAMC MEETS JUNE FUND DRIVE GOAL IN UNDER FOUR DAYS

(ALBANY, June 9, 2005) - WAMC/Northeast Public Radio finished its summer fund drive on the evening of Thursday, June 9, having raised a total of $705,271 from 6,147 callers. The goal was $700,000. WAMC gained over 1126 new members during the drive.

"We are astounded. We just can't believe it," said Alan Chartock, WAMC's President.

The on-air fund drive began early on Monday, June 6, 2005 and ended in less than four days at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 9.

"Public radio is under attack. We told our listeners about it and they said loud and clear, 'OK WAMC we love you and we've got your back'," added Chartock, "$700,000.00 in less than four days. We are humbled and thankful."
