“Deluxe” (Golden Bug)

While most of the bands that gained notoriety during the brief, late-‘90s neo-swing craze are now just a memory, Ron Sunshine’s group Full Swing, which began playing the music in the early 1990s, is still going strong, as heard on Sunshine’s latest album, “Deluxe.” The album features plenty of Sunshine’s original compositions next to songs by Percy Mayfield and others, but you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between them. Sunshine’s delivery is full of brash personality, and the band’s playing is impeccable. [ 12/21/03 ]
