“Let It Be…Naked” (Capitol)
More than just stripping the “Let It Be” we’ve known for all these years of Phil Spector’s gloppy, orchestral excess, this new “naked” mix of The Beatles’ album reveals the foursome at the heart of the enterprise. However tortured and sick of each other they may have been at the time, they still played gorgeously together. This mix also reveals untold layers of dimensionality – you can easily imagine yourself in the room with them, and in particular their vocals gain new clarity and personality. Includes an additional “Fly on the Wall” disk of studio conversation and aborted musical efforts. [ 12/14/03 ]
